Canberra Paws Walk - Terms and Conditions

Your use of this site and the information available on this site is subject to the following terms and conditions:

1. Participation at Own Risk
There is an understanding that attending and participating in the Canberra Paws Walk event  involves inherent risks, including but not limited to:
  • Injury to myself or others
  • Injury caused by dogs (including bites, scratches, or knocks)
  • Injury to my dog(s)
  • Property damage
  • Risks associated with crowds, weather, equipment, and uneven surfaces
As public attendees, you voluntarily choose to attend and participate in the event at your own risk.

2. Responsibility for Dogs
Bringing a dog to the event:
  • You are the legal owner or authorised handler of the dog
  • Your dog is suitably trained, healthy, and vaccinated
  • Your dog will be kept under effective control at all times (on a flat collar or harness and lead)
By attending this event you accept full responsibility for the behaviour of your dog and any injury, loss, or damage caused by your dog to people, animals, or property.

3. Release of Liability
To the extent permitted by law, you agree to release and hold harmless the Organiser, event volunteers, sponsors, landowners, and local authorities from any claims, demands, actions, or liability arising from:
  • Personal injury or death
  • Injury to or loss of my dog
  • Property damage
This includes claims arising from negligence, except where liability cannot be excluded under Australian law.

4. Medical Treatment
You consent to receiving first aid or emergency medical treatment if required during the event and accept responsibility for any associated costs.

5. Photography & Media Consent
There is an understanding that photographs, video, and audio recordings may be taken during the event of your pet(s) and yourselves for future promotional purposes, unless you advise otherwise by emailing events@rspca-act.org.au.
This is a consent to the use of your image and/or your dog’s image in:
  • Promotional materials
  • Social media
  • Websites
  • Printed publications
This consent is given without expectation of compensation and may be used by the Organiser and event partners, unless you advise otherwise by emailing events@rspca-act.org.au.

6. Cancellation
Tickets are non-refundable. If you are no longer able to attend, you can request that your entry fee be converted into a donation with a tax-deductible receipt. The event will go ahead regardless of weather conditions.

7. Ownership
7.1. This site URL LINK (Website) is operated by RSPCA ACT . Any right or benefit in these Terms and Conditions is in favour of RSPCA ACT.

8. Terminology
8.1. In these terms and conditions, the expressions “we”, “us”, and “our” are references to RSPCA ACT

9. Use of Website from outside Australia
9.1. The information on this Website (the Information) and the Terms and Conditions have been prepared in accordance with Australian law. If you are residing in or accessing this Website from a country other than Australia (the User Country) the Information and the Terms and Conditions may not satisfy the laws of the User Country. Should the Information and the Terms and Conditions satisfy the laws of the User Country, then you are entitled to use the Website. 27.1. You indemnify us including our officers, agents, contractors, volunteers and employees (those Indemnified), regardless of any negligence on the part of RSPCA ACT. against all losses, liabilities, legal costs and other expenses incurred by those Indemnified arising directly or indirectly as a result of or in connection with the breach by you of any provision of these Terms and Conditions or any willful, unlawful or negligent act by you in connection with the supply by RSPCA ACT, to you of any product or service, or use by you of any such product or service.

If any provision of the Terms and Conditions is found to be invalid or unenforceable by a court of law, such invalidity or unenforceability will not affect the remainder of the Terms and Conditions which will continue in full force and effect. All rights not expressly granted are reserved. The Terms and Conditions set out the entire understanding and agreement between RSPCA ACT and you with respect to the subject matter.
