At any given time over the next four months, RSPCA ACT expects to have more than 200 cats and kittens in our care.
Today, the total is 241 cats and kittens, with more arriving every day.
This kitten season, we want to act fast to give every kitty the best and quickest chance at a safe, loving future.
Before they can be adopted, each cat and kitten must be desexed. This is an important step in ending the cycle of unwanted litters and helping reduce the growing number of vulnerable felines in our community.
At RSPCA ACT, we pride ourselves to be at the forefront of animal welfare and to continue to strive to improve so we can do the best we can for the animals in our community and in our care. One innovative area we have steadily been working on, is high volume desexing.
Thanks to learning new techniques from international specialists, investing in training and updating our protocols and procedures, our veterinary team is now able to desex more cats than ever before.
Our goal is ambitious: run a series of weekly high volume feline desexing days during January 2026, the peak of kitten season, where we will, with a lot of organising and planning, be able to desex 120 cats and kittens before the end of January.
To achieve this, we urgently need to raise $13,560.
Your donation today will help:
- Desex 120 cats and kittens
- Prepare them for adoption sooner
- Reduce the time they spend in care
- Prevent unwanted litters now and in the future
This effort will help almost half of the felines in our care RIGHT NOW move one step closer to their forever homes.
Please donate today and help give them their best chance at a new life.
If you're unable to donate but still want to help, please consider becoming a volunteer or foster carer. Your support in any form makes a real difference.
Any additional funds raised will go directly towards helping animals in need.
