20 Puppies. 1 Day. We Need Your Help.

Recently, 20 vulnerable puppies arrived at the RSPCA ACT shelter from the same property. Two litters—one just 3 weeks old, still nursing with their mum, and another at 7 weeks old, soon to be ready for adoption.

With the shelter already at capacity, we were faced with an urgent challenge to find space, ensure their safety and the safety of our existing animals, and provide the intensive, round-the-clock care they desperately require.

Update:

The 10 puppies from the older litter have now all been adopted thanks to our community. Roxy and her 10 puppies (pictured) are expected to become available for adoption in May.

Though we’d hoped things were settling down, another two newborn litters with a combined 15 puppies recently arrived at our Shelter, with another litter of three pups arriving later in the same week.

These new arrivals need the same vital veterinary checks, vaccinations, desexing, warm beds, nutritious food and loving foster families until they are older and ready for adoption.

Your donation today will help us care for these new puppies and other animals in our care. Giving them the best chance at a happy, healthy future.

Taking care of 20 additional puppies means:

• 60 meals prepared daily
• 6 kennels cleaned multiple times a day
• 20 puppies socialized and cared for
• 20 microchips and desexing procedures
• At least 40 vaccinations
• At least 100 worming treatments

At RSPCA ACT, we never euthanise for space. With no kennels available, we decided to temporarily cease kennel intakes to ensure the safety of these puppies—and the rest of the animals in our care.

We've now reopened intake, but this recent influx of young puppies needing help is indicative of a trend which has emerged over the past two years. Caring for puppies requires a tremendous effort from our staff, volunteers, and the wider community.

To provide the critical care these puppies need until they find their forever homes, we need to raise $10,000.

Your donation today will ensure that we can continue providing the essential care and support for these puppies until they are ready for adoption. Please help us give them the best start in life.
